I fulfilled a childhood dream of mine this summer to go up in a hot air balloon. I was excited and scared at the same time a mix of feelings we all experience at one time or another. it was very last minute touch and go whether we would actually get our balloon flight due to various factors such as wind direction and wind strength not to mention the ability to climb into the basket attached to the Balloon itself. Silently and rapidly we left firm ground with only a basket under my feet to stop me falling to earth again literally. Did I cower in the bottom of the basket and pray to God to keep me safe and get my feet back on firm earth right away. No thank fully I loved the experience and was so amazed at how silently we reached for the sky floating along with the wind and at times hanging in the sky almost not moving at all until a sudden breeze and we whooshed along with the wind. We reached 1000ft up and yet you could reach your hand out and touch the air look out at the birds flying close by and see all this without looking through the window of a plane. I marvelled at how you can hear everything so clearly a farmer calling for his dog Patch, the animals etc. I observed the shape of the landscape seen from a different angle looking down and noticed the shadows of the trees on the land itself and as you can see in the picture above the shadow cast by the balloon. We all cast shadows of ourselves and sometimes it is a part of our selves we are unaware of but others notice. Or maybe some of us only show people a shadow of our true selves scared to reveal who we really are.
